Millom’s scheme to become the UK’s first Donor Community

Logo Efforts are being made to help Millom become the first Donor Community in the UK and possibly the world.

Working with NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) the aim is to encourage 50% of the eligible 13000 residents of South Copeland to become a donor of some sort. This does not just mean end of life organ donation but also blood, platelets, bone marrow and living donations, including sperm.

The first event is an Around the Combe Community Donor awareness drop in day on Thursday 18th June 3-7pm at Millom Pensioner’s Hall (Tin Chapel), Devonshire Road.
Please come along and have a chat with NHSBT professionals and find out about the different ways you could give someone the gift of life.

Tea/coffee and biscuits will be laid on free of charge.
