If you’re fairly confident on your bike and ready to broaden your cycling horizons, these steady rides are ideal. At a comfortable pace, and possibly with some modest hills along the way, rides take place on mainly quiet roads with plenty of sights along the way.
The ride involves 45 minutes cycling time but it’s sometimes good to have a little break in the middle, or maybe a catch up at the beginning or end to keep it sociable. This means that the overall ride duration may be longer than the actual cycling time (can last approximately 1 hour 30 minutes).
The ride begins at Millom Recreation Centre at 11:00am when riders head out of Millom towards the Hodbarrow RSPB Nature Reserve. The group will then cycle around the 200 acre lagoon where there is an opportunity to stop for a breather whilst taking in the views before continuing to Hodbarrow. Riders then head back to Millom via Haverigg sea front.
Everyone over the age of 8 is welcome to join the ride however children aged 8 to 15 need to be accompanied by an adult.
